Give thanks, who won the Irish Oaks for trainer Jim Bolger in 1983, has passed away at the Shadwell Stud, aged 18.
The daughter of Relko won two minor events in Ireland, before taking the Oaks Trial at Lingfield and proved her durability when winning another pattern event, the Musidora Stakes at York.
Although beaten by subsequent Derby runner-up Carlingford Castle at the Curragh, she returned to take the Lancashire Oaks at Haydock before returning to the Curragh to take the Irish Oaks by two and a half lengths. Although far from the greatest broodmare to pass through the Shadwell estate, she produced useful hurdlers Shahrur and Mukdar and was the grand-dam of 1995 1,000 Guineas winner Harayir.
