Simon Easterby is a former Ireland Under-21 international currently enhancing his reputation with Llanelli. In his underage days he played at number eight but the presence of Lions and Wales international Scott Quinnell at Stradey Park means that Easterby is applying his trade at open-side flanker. The younger brother of Ireland A scrum-half Guy, the now 23-year-old joined Llanelli from Leeds last summer and has made a big impression with the Scarlets. He has played a pivotal role in Llanelli's European Cup matches to date, establishing a regular place in the back row.
He plays with great intelligence, is a very accomplished footballer and has raw physical strength. His versatility should ensure that a place is found for him at least in the shadow national side for the forthcoming A internationals in the New Year.
