RANGERS are anxious over the possibility of a three match suspension for Paul Gascoigne, who has been plagued by yellow cards since his arrival in Scottish football from Lazio for £4.3 million last summer. He has been cautioned 16 times in 32 appearances for Rangers with Sunday's booking against Celtic his 13th domestically and a fifth in the last five premier games.

It is likely to take him onto 11 disciplinary points, five short of the 16 point threshold, which will land him a third suspension this season.

Former referee Jim McGilvray, who hung up his whistle after booking Gascoigne for leaving the field to celebrate a goal against Partick last month, insists there is "no witch hunt" by Scottish officials.

McGilvray even believes referees north of the border have shied away from red carding Gascoigne, who was sent off in the Champions League in Dortmund.
