STANDISH Collen's Bold Flyer held by the skin of his well worn molars the strong finish of Heist to win yesterday's RTE For Sport Handicap Chase. There is hardly a more consistently good jumper in training than the 13 year old who won four races for Jim Dreaper, including a Galway Plate, and now five for the owner's daughter Anne.
Con Collins has his charges in good form and the success of God Forbid in the opening Ballyshaun Maiden may be a good omen for Ascot this week when the Curragh trainer runs Raphane and Almaty at the Royal meeting and Nascash at the Heath on Saturday.
The Stephen Craine partnered God Forbid, running for the third time, led before the furlong pole to beat Gaultier Gale. He should stay further.
Pro Trader finished well to beat Khasib by a head in the EBF Handicap. It was his first success in six outings since winning his solitary two year old race at Punchestown last year.
In beating Smarts Castle by two lengths in the McEnery Cup Handicap, the Jim Bolger trained Diamond Display was confirming his Listowel superiority over the same horse in a Listowel handicap last September.
. Michael Kinane took the listed Victor McCalmont Memorial Stakes on the favourite Tout A Coup at Gowran on Saturday in a tight finish with Jim Bolger's front running Ceirseach.
Kinane had to get down to. work in earnest on the favourite to get her up by the minimum margin right on the line and books the filly's passage to the Irish Oaks.
"I was a little worried that Tout A Coup might be found wanting because she missed two pieces of work recently and she's just showing signs of restlessness that suggests she may be coming into season," said winning trainer Gerry Cusack.
. Willie Carson will stands in for the suspended Mark Birch aboard Tim Easterby's For Your Eyes Only in Thursday's Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Birch, stable jockey to Easterby, also missed partnering this smart two year old because of a riding ban when the colt won the Brian Yeardley Continental Two Year Old Trophy Conditions Stakes at Beverley earlier this month.
