That these two clubs are operating in the top flight is an achievement in itself, but it was Galway United who took the points and the plaudits in Phibsboro last night as Seán Connor guided the Tribesmen to their fourth win in five matches against Bohemians.
It was a peculiar opening period because for all Bohemians’ possession they were encountering staunch resistance.
Killian Brennan, willing to move inside from the right, did manufacture space in the 16th minute with a mazy run, but the winger was unable to supply a precise finish.
But the visitors nearly pinched a freak goal on 37 minutes when Mark Rossiter’s clearance thumped of Joseph Yoffe, but the ball went wide.
Galway hit the front in the 61st minute when Alan Murphy and Karl Moore crafted a chance for Yoffe, who slipped the visitors ahead.
