Bray W 0 Galway U 2:TWO EXCELLENTLY taken first-half goals from strikers Anto Flood and Karl Sheppard made it three wins in five games for Galway United at the Carlisle Grounds last night.
Galway had their noses in front after nine minutes when a clever ball from Gary Curran allowed Flood to cut in from the left and fire a shot into the top right-hand corner from 20 yards.
Sheppard had a header just wide moments later after a Curran cross from the right. But Galway stretched their lead on 19 minutes after a defensive blunder by James Kavanagh.
Flood was allowed to supply a defence splitting pass toSheppard, who made no mistake, shooting past Bray goalkeeper Brian Kane from 14 yards.
Galway’s Rhys Meynell, normally a defender, was forced to start in goal because of Barry Ryan’s suspension and injury to his deputy Séamus Friel. But the 21-year-old was rarely tested, although he did show his ability between the posts when getting down well to block a free from Dave Webster just before the interval.
