Roscommon Gaels powered their way to the Connacht club football final with a comprehensive win over champions Tourlestrane at Hyde Park, Roscommon, yesterday.
The visitors had the perfect start with Gerry McGowan pointing after 30 seconds. However, the Gaels hit back decisively when John Hanley cut through to score their first goal.
Points from Eamon Walsh, Terry McGowan and Matthew Walsh kept the Sligo side in touch but McGowan's 22nd minute point from a free was to be their last score until James Curley's point 13 minutes into the second half.
By that stage the game was over as a contest with the home side leading 2-12 to 0-5. Their second goal, scored by Clifford McDonald just before the interval, helped them to a 11-point lead at the break.
