Kilkenny to face Waterford in All-Ireland hurling qualifiers

Tipperary to play Dublin in first leg of Semple Stadium double-header on Saturday

Kilkenny will face Waterford in Round Two of the All-Ireland SHC qualifiers.

Brian Cody’s side have avoided defending champions Tipperary, who will play Dublin.

The two fixtures will both be held on Saturday July 8th in a Semple Stadium double-header.

Kilkenny, who won back-to-back All-Irelands in 2014 and 2015, were dumped out of the Leinster SHC by Davy Fiztgerald’s resurgent Wexford - who were beaten in the provincial final by Galway on Sunday.

However the Cats kept their campaign alive with a win over Limerick in Nowlan Park on Saturday evening, running out 0-20 to 0-17 winners.

Their opponents Waterford were dismissed by Cork in the Munster SHC but steadied the ship on Saturday with a 1-35 to 0-14 thrashing of Offaly.

Tipp meanwhile have suffered two high-profile losses so far this year, and were turned over by Leinster champions Galway in the Allianz League final.

This was followed by a shock defeat to Cork in the Munster SHC - however they will fancy their chances against a Dublin side who were easily dismissed by Galway.

Tipp eased past Westmeath on Saturday, winning 2-18 to 0-15, while Dublin made light work of Laois with a 2-28 to 1-15 victory in Parnell Park.
