Tyrone U-21 F
Tyrone have reshaped their defence ahead of Sunday's All-Ireland under-21 football championship semi-final clash with Cork at Parnell Park. Only Ciarβn Meenagh retains the position he occupied in the Ulster final win over Fermanagh, but there's just one change in personnel.
Darren O'Hanlon has returned from a spell in the United States to win back his place at full back, with Michael Magee moving across to the left corner. Philip Jordan switches from left corner to left half back. Peter O'Neill loses out.
There's relief for goalkeeper Pascal McConnell that the game was not given its anticipated Saturday slot, as he completes a one-month suspension at midnight on the eve of the semi-final. Minor captain Peter Donnelly, chasing two All-Ireland medals, partners McAnallen at midfield.
TYRONE: P McConnell; C Gormley, D O'Hanlon, M McGee; C Meenagh, G Devlin, P Jordan; P Donnelly, C McAnallen; R Mellon, B McGuiigan. S O'Neill; E McGinley, K Hughes, E Mulligan.
International Rules series
The All-Australian awards have been announced. Australian Rules' equivalent of the All Stars forms the basis of the selection for next month's International Rules series in Melbourne and Adelaide.
Of significance to the series is the nomination of James Hird as captain. He skippered Australia last year and gave a powerful display as the visitors took the Croke Park tests 2-0.
His predecessor as captain Nathan Buckley has also made the line-up - his sixth All-Australian, just three short of the record. There are eight newcomers and a number of familiar faces. Among these is Jason Akermanis, who has played in all three series to date but who is suspended for this series. Akermanis was sent off for a brawl with Peter Canavan, who was suspended for one match but who earlier this week announced that he would not be available for the Tests.
2001 ALL-AUSTRALIANS. Backs: Gavin Wanganeen (Port Adelaide), Jonathon Hay (Hawthorn), Darren Gaspar (Richmond). Half-Backs: Joel Smith (Hawthorn), Sean Wellman (Essendon), Andrew McKay (Carlton).
