Rising star Marco Fu of Hong Kong continued his winning run through the qualifying rounds of the Embassy World snooker Championship in Blackpool yesterday. The world amateur and under-21 champion impressively beat experienced campaigner Mike Hallett 10-2.
The 19-year-old led 7-2 at the interval and duly collected the three frames he needed to reach the 11th qualifying round and edge a step nearer a debut in the final stages of the tournament.
Fu lost the opening frame but won the second on the black and third on the pink to lead 2-1 before moving into top gear.
Fu, seeking his 43rd consecutive match victory, recorded a break of 126 in the fourth frame.
And by the end of the first session he had piled on the agony for Hallett, adding further breaks of 75, 40, 53 and 105.
