KIEREN FALLON left Nottingham with a four day ban but no complaints after being found in breach of the infamous non triers' rule yesterday.
Fallon, riding Champion Hurdle aspirant Dato Star in the St Anns Maiden won by Les Eyre's Totem Dancer, dropped his hands inside the final furlong and was denied second place on the line by Luca Cumani's Sea of Stone.
The presiding stewards ruled that he had failed to ride out Malcolm Jefferson's 6 to 5 favourite - having his first race since sustaining a career threatening injury over hurdles at Haydock in February - to the line, contrary to Rule 151 (ii), and suspended him from riding on November 2nd, 4th, 5th and 7th.
Fallon, who will leave Britain to ride in America for the rest of the year in a fortnight's time, pleaded guilty as charged. "I agree with the stewards," he said. "I finished third and I should have finished second. There are no complaints.
"But the horse had been off for a while, I had to hold him together and it was tacky ground. These things have to be taken into consideration. I will have gone to America by the time of the ban, anyway."
Jefferson was pleased with Dato Star's run and may now aim him at the November Handicap at Doncaster on November 9th.
