UUJ led by 0-9 to 0-3 at half-time, with Cork duo Ciarán Sheehan and Donal Óg Hodnett along with Kerry’s Barry John Walsh claiming scores for CIT.

The only goal arrived 20 seconds after the restart from Conor McManus to firmly kill off any hope of a CIT challenge.

UUJ dominated midfield and opened a 1-15 to 0-3 lead in the 49th minute, with Donnelly, Down’s Colm Murney, Diarmuid McNulty and McManus on target.

Sheehan battled hard for CIT but the only second-half score for Keith Ricken’s charges came from substitute Noel Galvin eight minutes from time.
