Fitzwilliam Lawn Tennis Club held their a.g.m. on Wednesday. According to the executive committee's report, salaries at the prestigious club rose to a staggering £694,014, up 21 per cent from £573,586. As a result a proposal to increase the catering levy from £160 to £250 was forwarded. This is in addition to the proposed annual subscription for 2000 of £975. In total, around £1,200 is required to become fully paid up, something that should not unduly sting many of the members.
According to the report, the unused levy for last year was £40,750 while the total for this year's unclaimed meals in the exclusive diningroom amounted to a staggering £66,000. That's an average of over £110,000 over two years by members, who despite paying for the food, decide not to eat there.
