Two second-half goals from Colm Foley and Charles Mbabazi Livingstone got St Patrick's Athletic back to winning ways as they ground out this deserved win at the Carlisle Grounds.
Impressive central defender Foley finally broke the deadlock when heading home Mbabazi's corner on 62 minutes.
Mbabazi then added the second when punishing sluggish defending from Shay Kelly's long clearance to race through and shoot past Matt Gregg.
"It's a great win as it's always difficult to come here," said a delighted St Patrick's manager, Pat Dolan, who couldn't help adding that his team are now in second place - if you add on the nine points they have been deducted and hope to get back at arbitration. We were good in Cork last week and didn't get the reward for it. But we did today.
"This was a quality performance. Our passing and movement was excellent."
St Patrick's more composed football meant they controlled much of the first half but it was Bray who enjoyed more exposure in front of goal.
The best of their openings fell to Eddie Gormley in stoppage time following a quick counter-attack form a St Patrick's corner.
Colm Tresson and Stephen Fox worked the ball forward for Gormley but the midfielder, having done well to get down the field so quickly, put his left-foot shot high and over the top.
Earlier, the St Patrick's pace opened up Bray's defence to create their only real chance before the interval.
Paul Marney's ball to Mbabazi split the defence but the Ugandan drilled his shot wide across goal.
"We're conceding too many silly goals and not taking our own chances," said Pat Devlin, the Bray manager. "It's not happening for us and it has to be rectified soon."
