The first Pitch and Putt Union national final of 2000 will take place at the St Stephen's club, Glanmire, on Sunday next when 42 teams will contest the National Mixed Foursomes event over 36 holes.
Among the fancied clubs will be the Crosshaven B team of Jim Aherne, Morty Aherne, Nicola Aherne and Noreen Desmond, who were the leading qualifiers in Cork. IGB led the Dublin qualifying round with an excellent score of 174 points, and a repeat of that performance from Paddy Lowry, Alice Lowry, Damien Long and Betty Hickey should put them in the frame.
Tara Dillon and Chrissie Dillon will team up with Ian Dillon and Paul Byrne on the St Brigid's A side, while Anne Breen, who was beaten in a play-off in the recent Munster Junior Strokeplay championship, is in the Bruff A team with Pat O'Connor, Joe Ring and Bridget McCarthy.
