KIEREN FALLON flies out to Italy today hoping for a positive result as he attempts to free himself to ride in the Epsom Derby and Oaks.
Henry Cecil's stable-jockey, aiming to partner odds-on favourite Reams Of Verse in the Oaks, is appealing against a 10-day suspension which is due to start tomorrow and will rule him out of the whole Epsom meeting.
He feels harshly treated in being stood down so long for a manoeuvre in last Sunday's Italian Derby which was ajudged illegal by the Rome stewards. "Kieren flies out to Italy tomorrow and the hearing is at 4.30," said Fallon's agent Dave Pollington. "I shouldn't think it will be a long, drawn-out thing as I understand they have several appeals to hear." Fallon will be replaced by Pat Eddery on Reams Of Verse if his appeal fails while Richard Quinn is likely to come in for the Irishman's Derby ride on Glasgow Stakes, winner Symonds Inn.
