KIEREN FALLON reinforced his status as Pontefract's leading jockey yesterday with a double that mixed disappointment and joy for punters. First the Clareman helped to overturn the hotpot Grey Kingdom when guiding home 33 to 1 shot Night Flight in the Tote Bookmakers Handicap.
Thirty minutes later Fallon was back in the punters' good books as he steered the well fancied Gymcrak Flyer (4-1) to victory in the Tote Dual Forecast Limited Stakes.
Grey Kingdom was supported down to 5 to 4 favourite to complete a hat trick in the space of seven days. But he was never able to establish a big lead and it was Night Flight that burst through the pack to take charge with a furlong to travel.
"This was a big surprise to me and maybe Kieren was the key," said winning trainer Jonjo O'Neill. "He came in afterwards and said it was never in any doubt."
