RACING: Kieren Fallon was the toast of punters at Epsom's first meeting of the year yesterday as he secured a 38 to 1 double on the Downs. The reigning champion judged it perfectly as he bought both Lingo and April Stock from unpromising positions to win.
Lingo landed a sizeable gamble in the Pentax City and Suburban Stakes. The well-supported 2 to 1 chance, trained in Thirsk by Lynda Ramsden, looked in trouble when trapped in but Fallon extricated his mount from the pack and brought him through with a perfectly-timed challenge to lead inside the dying strides.
Forty minutes later, Fallon was back in the winner's enclosure after bringing the Gerard Butler-trained 12-1 chance April Stock home for a last-gasp verdict over Adjawar in the Pentax Great Metropolitan Stakes.
