RACING NEWS: FAIRYHOUSE'S high-profile meeting tomorrow has been cancelled yet again with the track still unraceable.

The card, featuring three Grade One events, was originally due to take place on November 28th, but has been rescheduled a number of times due to the cold snap.

The fixture has now been moved again to next Wednesday and clerk of the course Peter Roe is keeping his fingers crossed it will finally be able to go ahead.

“We’ve had to cancel for Saturday as we’re still unraceable, but we hope to be able to race next Wednesday,” said Roe. “The trainers and the sponsors are all keen for us to try to get this meeting on and we’ve had great support that way, so we’ll do our very best.”

Fairyhouse’s switch to Wednesday means the meeting due to take place at Clonmel that day will now take place on Thursday.

Horse Racing Ireland have also announced that the cancelled meeting at Gowran, scheduled for today, will now take place on December 22nd.

Navan’s fixture on Sunday, featuring the Grade One Navan Novice Hurdle, has also been cancelled. Course officials drew stumps without the need for an inspection as the track is still covered in snow. It will now be held on Sunday, December 19th.

Meanwhile, the final meeting of the Irish Flat season will be held at Dundalk this evening with the battle for the apprentice title taking centre stage. Gary Carroll and Ben Curtis hold a healthy two-winner lead over Joseph O’Brien, but the son of champion trainer Aidan O’Brien has a strong book of rides at the Co Louth venue.
