Following the recent escalation in violence in the Middle East the FAI is to meet with the Israeli ambassador tomorrow regarding Ireland's World Cup group four qualifier against Israel at the Ramat-Gan Stadium in Tel Aviv on Saturday, March 26th.

Yesterday, the FAI released a statement concerning the situation: "The Football Association of Ireland has been involved in detailed planning for the World Cup qualifier versus Israel during the past number of weeks.

"The association has been in regular contact with the Israeli embassy regarding the arrangements for the fixture, the last such meeting held just 48 hours ago. The association has also involved the Department of Foreign Affairs in its preparations for the game.

"This morning, Saturday, the FAI made contact with FIFA to ascertain their assessment of the situation in Tel Aviv and chief executive officer, John Delaney, has also been in contact with the Department of Foreign Affairs today.

"The FAI is to meet with the Israeli ambassador on Tuesday next and will await the assessments from the Embassy, the Department and FIFA before commenting further."

The match, which kicks off at 5.50pm (Irish time), will be refereed by Russia's Valentin Ivanov.
