DERMOT WELD'S supplemented Casey Tibbs, Peter Chapple Hyam's Voyagers Quest and John Gosden's Perfect Paradigm all contest the 14 runner French Derby tomorrow.
Voyagers Quest, a Group winner in France as well as successful in the Thresher Classic Trial, looks the pick of the trio. However, the Prix du JockeyClub over 12 furlongs at Chantilly is often a difficult race to prise away from the grip of the home team.
Andre Fabre, itching to win a race he has never won, runs three with Fragrant Mix (winner of the Prix Noailles) and Peintre Celebre (Prix Greffulhe) looking the pick of the trio. Arabian King, winner of the Listed Prix de l'Avre, is the third member of a strong Fabre team.
Others with chances are the Prix Hocquart 1-2, Shaka and Oscar, with the former trained by Jean Claude Rouget of Millkom fame. Shaka, the Criterium de SaintCloud winner, is seeking a second Group One win and he appears to have hit top form at the right time. The lightly raced and progressive Oscar is very well thought of.
