HORSES racing under the Godolphin banner reenter the fray today and, while Stowaway may struggle at Doncaster, Swiss Law can repay a small interest in Kempton's feature Crawley Warren Heron Stakes.
Swiss Law is one of those rarities of the season so far, a winner trained by last season's champion Saeed bin Suroor. The Machiavellian colt was the first of only three successes for the trainer, landing a six runner conditions race at Newmarket on Pertemps 1,000 Guineas day.
There was a lot to like about the way Swiss Law won. In front for most of the seven furlongs, he quickened well two furlongs out and showed a positive response when Frankie Dettori applied the pressure to come home half a length in front of Intikhab.
Results of tests have failed to find a reason for the Godolphin yard's poor showings this term and if there was anything wrong the chances are it did not affect Swiss Law.
That being the case, he can benefit from the extra furlong of today's race and kickstart, the stable's reappearance in positive fashion.
Tykeyvor had a 50 per cent strike rate from four outings last year, winning at Beverley before landing the 20 runner Bessborough Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Having his first race since he beat My Learned Friend in the latter and racing off the same mark, Tykeyvor looks the pick to land the New South Wales Handicap.
The tough and reliable Inchcailloch thrives on his efforts in every sphere of the game. A winner over both timber and fences, he is equally at home on the level and won last season's Cesarewitch.
Inchcailloch showed himself in good heart by winning over course and distance last month and can confirm the form over third placed Shining Dancer in the Crawley Warren Handicap.
At Doncaster, Temptress appeals in the Napoleons Racing Handicap. Jimmy Harris' charge had a busy York Dante meeting, finishing third of 12 to Angus G on the opening day before returning 24 hours later to contest a Listed event and finishing a well beaten fourth. The drop in class today gives her every chance in this mile and a half event.
The Rosehill Conditions Stakes looks a hot affair. Victory can go to Apprehension from David Loder's yard. Apprehension put up a sterling performance in finishing sixth to Benny The Dip in York's Dante Stakes and, with the benefit of that outing, can outgun his rivals here.
Johnny Staccato can win Haydock's Leahurst Stakes.
