Elnadim is worth a chance to redeem himself in the £130,000 Stanley Leisure Sprint Cup at Haydock today.
John Dunlop's colt proved an expensive flop for punters at York last month when a soundly-beaten 11th of 17 to Lochangel in the Nunthorpe Stakes over five furlongs. But he is much better than that.
He rapidly progressed to Group class last year and showed his full capabilities this season in the six-furlong Group One Darley July Cup at Newmarket. Making most of the running, Elnadim burnt his rivals off in style, beating Tamarisk by two lengths.
It looks best to draw a veil over Elnadim's York episode. Back over his favoured six furlongs, he should be good value to gain revenge on Lochangel.
Rokeby Bowl should get armchair punters off to a good start in the Stanley Casinos Rated Stakes. Ian Balding's servant is at the top of his form and saw off 13 rivals at York last month, holding on well to beat Jaazim by a length.
He has been raised 4lb in the weights but Balding has engaged up-and-coming apprentice Adrian Nicholls, who takes off a more than handy 5lb.
Best bet of the day is at Stratford, where Vintage Taittinger strays unusually far from his Scottish base for the 1152 AM Capital Gold Sport Handicap Chase. Jim Goldie's six-year-old can complete a hat-trick. He has really found his niche over fences and recently won twice in successive days at Perth, on the second occasion jumping fast and well in beating Blazing Dawn by 11 lengths.
Goldie could tee up a double with Valiant Dash in a weak race for the Brendan Fitzgeorge Conditional Jockeys' Selling Handicap Hurdle.
At Epsom, Silver Groom can gain an overdue win in the Grosvenor Victoria Casino Handicap. Mick Channon's veteran has slipped down the weights and ran a solid race last time at Salisbury when one and a half lengths second to Renown.
Rabah can take the £30,000-added Grosvenor Casinos September Stakes
John Dunlop's progressive three-year-old has rapidly graduated to Group class and came up against a smart performer on his latest start when four lengths second to Sea Wave in York's Great Voltigeur Stakes.
