FORMER US PGA champion Steve Elkington is expected to join Greg Norman and young American star Tiger Woods in next month's £550,000 Australian Golf Open in Sydney.
The International Management Group (IMG), the Open organisers, yesterday confirmed that Elkington was "very, very likely" to play the Open at The Australian from November 21st to the 24th and also the Greg Norman Classic at Royal Melbourne the following week.
Australia's Elkington, 33, has rarely played on the Australasian PGA Tour since taking an American university scholarship. He was recently reported to be at odds with the Australian Golf Union (AGU) over his appearance fee but IMG's Angus Hawley said an amount had been agreed and the player was expected to make a decision by next Tuesday.
