For a second successive year, the west Dublin club are all-Ireland champions of a quiz organised by the Royal and Ancient to promote a knowledge of the rules and involving over 600 teams from these islands. After beating Co Armagh in the national final, they are now at St Andrews where they will be representing Ireland against five other qualifying teams.
The team comprises Andrew O'Riordan, husband and wife Dave and Rhona Darcy and "playing" captain, Ron Greenlee. And they have been accompanied on the trip by club captain John Simon and lady captain, Joyce Devitt. Unfortunately, the quartet departed these shores before I had the opportunity of testing them with a teaser which has been bothering me for some time. It involved players A and B . . .
