CBC, Cork 17 Castletroy 3:CASTLETROY COLLEGE relinquished their grip on the Munster Schools Senior Cup after this quarter-final defeat at Dooradoyle yesterday.
CBC avenged their final defeat of last March thanks to tries from Graham Mackesy, in the 21st minute, and Bryan O’Leary in the 33rd, and eight points from the boot of centre Joe Holland.
Mackesy’s touchdown was as a result of a flowing backline move which saw the winger get in in the left corner.
O’Leary’s opportunist try, after he intercepted the ball on halfway, helped CBC into a 17-0 lead.
While Castletroy exerted greater pressure after the break, a 39th-minute penalty goal from centre Darren Moroney was the Limerick side’s only reward.
