Dunwoody chooses

Record-chasing Richard Dunwoody will ride at Newton Abbot tomorrow

Record-chasing Richard Dunwoody will ride at Newton Abbot tomorrow. Having weighed up his options at the weekend's four jumps meetings, he has decided to head for the west country venue.

And should he fail there to secure the three winners he needs to replace Peter Scudamore as Britain's winning-most National Hunt rider, the Ulsterman will head to Wincanton on Monday.

After ploughing through the formbook, Dunwoody's agent Robert Parsons said: "There are a lot of entries and the problem is the ground but Richard is going to go to Newton Abbot on Saturday.

"He will ride Monchania and Silver Pot Black for Philip Hobbs and Grosvenor for Paul Nicholls. And hopefully he will pick up a couple more rides. Then he will go on to Wincanton on Monday."
