DUNDALK'S recent run of good form continued at the Brandywell last night when a goal by Joe Galen was enough to take all three points and push Derry City out of the top six in the premier league for the first time this season.

Yet, it was the home side who dominated proceedings for long periods, but when chances came their way, they found Dundalk goalkeeper John Connolly, in top form. Connolly pulled off two superb saves to deny Derry's lively substitute Thomas McCallion, and his handling throughout was first rate.

However, it was Dundalk who broke the deadlock in the 69th minute, when an incisive run up the right by Matt Britten opened the way for Peter Withnell to cross for Gallen to head home beyond the despairing arms of Tony O'Dowd from close range.
