A Pat Burke goal five minutes from the end was the decisive score as favourites Kilmacud Crokes got past Ballyboden St Enda’s in the last 16 of the Dublin SFC at Parnell Park last night on a score of 1-10 to 0-8.

Level and with extra-time beckoning in the fourth round replay, it was always going to take something special to settle this tie. And Burke’s effort was sublime, winning the ball under the stand on the right touchline before showing blistering pace to lose his marker and applying the finish from close range.

Former Dublin minor Paul Mannion then added two points, one from a 45, to ensure they booked their quarter-final date with St Sylvester’s next Wednesday.

The sides were level 0-5 apeice after a slow burning first half. Crokes found some breathing space in the opening quarter, points from Mannion, Craig Dias and Burke put them three clear and they never looked back.
