IRISH boxing supporters are assured of a unique treat on the eve off the All Ireland hurling final when three world titles will be decided at The Point in Dublin.

The 12 bout bill will be headed by "Prince" Naseem Hamed, the reigning World Boxing Organisation featherweight champion, who will defend his title against Manuel Medina from Mexico over 12 rounds. Naseem boxes out of the Brendan Ingle gym in Sheffield.

The principal supporting bouts will feature the International Boxing Federation featherweight champion, Tom Johnson from Indiana - one of a number of fighters expected to challenge Naseem on a future bill - who will defend his title against Ramon Guzman from Venezuela. Nate Miller from Philadelphia will defend his World Boxing Association cruiserweight title against James Heath from North Carolina.

Irish boxers will figure prominently on the bill led by the former Olympic champion, Michael Carruth, who will meet Mike Brannon from Indianapolis over 10 rounds at welterweight.

Paul Griffin, the former European gold medallist at bantamweight will also be in action against an as yet, undecided opponent, while Paschal Collins, Steve's younger brother, will meet Gordon Behan from Birmingham at middleweight.

The Irish contingent will he made up of former amateur champions, Mark Winters, from Antrim who fights John Smith from Liverpool at light welterweight and Marty Reneghan from Armagh will box Andy Martin from Hull at lightweight.
