ALL IRELAND MFC QUARTER-FINAL/Dublin v Down:MAYO ARE awaiting the winners in the All-Ireland semi-final as the swine flu infection within the Down panel forced a refixture of this tie.
Down manager Mark Turley was adamant this week the illness concerns have now passed and Ross McGarry will lead his team-mates out in Cavan this evening.
Leinster champions Dublin were forced to a replay by Kildare in the provincial decider after a valuable run-out in Croke Park.
They might not bridge the county’s 25-year gap to the last national title at minor level, but there is enough quality in the side to restore some pride in the capital.
Much of their play is funnelled through midfielder Eoghan Keogh, instantly recognisable from his shoulder-length heavy-metal hairstyle. Others, such as Gary Sweeney, Darragh Stapleton and captain Colm Carr, are expected to contribute the scores.
Their contributions should be enough to see off the Ulster finalists who lost the final to Armagh.
DUBLIN: D Downey; K O’Brien, F Carney, S Swords; E Keogh, J Kelly, G Seaver; C Reddin, D Byrne; F Breathnach, G Sweeney, D Stapleton; P Hudson, C Carr, F Duffy.
DOWN: TBA.
Referee: R O’Donnell (Donegal).
