MICHAEL STOUTE'S pair Dr Massini and Double Leaf were the best backed horses for next Saturday's Epsom Derby after a weekend of workouts on the Newmarket gallops. The Glasgow Stakes winner Dr Massini has been promoted to clear 4 to 1 favourite after reportedly pleasing in work.
The colt, whose Kempton debut success was paid a compliment by yesterday's easy Newmarket victory by runner up Wall Street, is 9 to 2 joint favourite with William Hill.
And Double Leaf, fifthe in the Dante Stakes, is now offered at 14 to 1 by William Hill who had quoted him at 25 to 1 on Friday morning.
Shaamit has been all the rage with Ladbrokes after his defeat of Glory of Dancer in work on Saturday. The firm have cut his odds from 16 to 1 into 10 to 1.
But Shaamit's trainer, William Haggas, refused to get carried away with the gallop. "He worked all right and I am satisfied but he went no different to how he has for the past six weeks - he is a genuine horse who works well," he said.
Shaamit, who will be ridden by Michael Hills at Epsom next Saturday, has not run since he landed a maiden at Doncaster last November.
Glory of Dancer's odds were pushed out from 5 to 110 6 to 1, but trainer Paul Kelleway was far from upset with the Dante Stakes winner's work.
"I am not worried at all," he said. "You don't want to leave the race on the gallops."
No changes were made to the prices of Henry Cecil's main Derby hopes, Dushyantor (Pat Eddery) and Storm Trooper (Willie Ryan).
