Goal poacher, Jonathan Speak, scored twice in the opening 20 minutes as Finn Harps shocked Shelbourne in Ballybofey on Saturday night. Harps had gone into the match on the back of three consecutive defeats but were boosted in the 14th minute when Speak rounded Alan Gough to score.
The Shelbourne goalkeeper made a terrific save to deny Speak a second in the 18th minute, but he could do nothing two minutes later to prevent the striker putting Harps two up.
Shelbourne could only manage a couple of speculative efforts until the 45th minute when Pat Scully stabbed home from 12 yards after Harps failed to clear Mark Rutherford's cross.
However, Harps kept up the pressure in the second half and Gough was forced to save again from James Mulligan in the 51st minute. At the other end Tony Sheridan wasted Shelbourne's best chance of an equaliser in the 61st minute when he blazed his shot over the bar.
Gough denied Speak his hat-trick with a great save in the 65th minute, but he could do nothing to stop James Mulligan's 90th minute header which sealed the win for Harps.
