There was a notable family double at the recent Irish Senior Lady Close Championships at Athlone. Marie Moran, the lady vice-Captain of Monkstown Golf Club in Cork, won the Marie Lister Trophy for the best gross score of the day with a 78. She finished one shot ahead of Milltown's Rhona Fanagan.
Then, later in the afternoon, her sister, Ruth MacNamara, from The Heath Golf Club landed the nett prize and the Eileen Connolly Trophy with a score of 70, playing off a handicap of 15. In fact both sisters had the same nett score.
