Joe Doonan, coach of marathon champion Catherina McKiernan, has been named as the Phillips Sports Manager of the Month for November following McKiernan's achievement in winning the prestigious Amsterdam marathon.

McKiernan ran the fifth fastest marathon in history by a woman and narrowly failed in a world record attempt which would have netted her £350,000. A cold wind, particularly in the latter stages of the race, hampered the Cavan runner's chances of claiming Kenyan Tegla Loroupe's record of two hours 20 minutes 47 seconds, set in April in Rotterdam.
