FITZGIBBON CUP QUARTER-FINALS: UL 0-15 UCD0-12:UL DUG deep as they booked a semi-final place against CIT following a hard-earned win at Limerick yesterday. Tipperary's Noel McGrath hit 10 points for UCD but it wasn't enough as UL held out with a sixth Shane Dooley point confirming a three-point win.
UL showed strongly early on as scores from Dooley, Paul Kelly and Pa Cronin ensured a 0-3 to 0-0 lead in the sixth minute. UCD rallied, Noel McGrath with his seventh point levelling matters at 0-7 apiece at the interval.
UCD took the lead for the first time, 0-11 to 0-10, in the 38th minute following a brace of McGrath scores. However, Paul Kelly helped UL get back on top.
