Irish previews: The big guns of Ballydoyle and the Curragh may be on the trail of today's big juvenile sprint at Naas, but Frank Ennis looks to have the ammunition to repel them all.
Ennis has tasted black type success before with the flying two-year-old Mahsusie, and the trainer looks to have just as useful an animal this year in Miss Childrey.
The €35,000 purchase followed up a debut third to Colossus at the Curragh with a smooth success at Cork from the subsequent winners Follow and Amourallis.
The Dr Fong filly has progressed again since, should be okay on the ground and on the six furlongs of the Swordlestown Stud Sprint.
Aidan O'Brien runs two, including the Sadlers Wells filly Oh So Precious, while Kevin Prendergast's Blue Banner may be better over a furlong further.
The other Listed race, the Naas Sprint Stakes, has attracted both Dragon Flyer and Miss Anabaa from Britain, but the race looks to be dominated by Danaskaya's 112 rating.
The grey filly got that for a fine third to Airwave and Russian Rhythm in the Cheveley Park, form that to say the least has been boosted since.
Danaskaya won her maiden at Naas and the drop back to the minimum trip should hold no problems for the speedy filly.
An even bigger rating is brought to the Naas party by Hanabad in the last. The Oxx horse is a 113 on the back of fourth placings last season in the National Stakes and the Grand Criterium. Fast ground does seem to suit the colt, however, and possibly Dolmur, unplaced in the Curragh Guineas, could be a value alternative.
Bali Breeze ran sixth to Aye Aye Popeye over a mile and a half at the Curragh, but the ex-Prendergast horse looked likely to be even closer at the two pole.
Dropping back to 10 furlongs should suit Bali Breeze in the first, while the trip should also be ideal for Marie Gracia in the sprint handicap.
At Tralee, the focus should be on the chasing debut of Wouldn't You Agree. The JP McManus-owned horse had a first start since November when unplaced to Nobody Told Me in a Punchestown Grade One, but looks different class to this opposition.
