Dom Samourai gets the nod in a tricky contest for the £30,000added Anthony Mildmay, Peter Cazalet Memorial Handicap Chase at Sandown today.

This race has a particularly difficult look and, with the absence of any great value, punters should be wary.

At least Dom Samourai is progressive and comes here in cracking form. Martin Pipe's French import has got his act together this season, winning at Newton Abbot and Chepstow, and lost nothing in defeat on his latest start.

Contesting the Coral Welsh National at Chepstow from 5lb out of the handicap, Dom Samourai ran on strongly in the closing stages but was held by Earth Summit, beaten one and three-quarter lengths, the pair 10 lengths clear.

That was a solid effort and, off only a 2lb higher mark, this consistent chaser should make a bold bid.

A problem is that he is theoretically held by Him Of Praise on their running at Haydock in November when he was beaten half a length. But both horses are on the upgrade and staying chases cannot be solved by mathematical equations.

Look no further than Grey Shot to win the £25,000-added Sun King of The Punters Tolworth Hurdle.

Ian Balding has very few runners over jumps and will not want to potter around with Grey Shot, who showed smart form as a stayer on the Flat.

A Champion Hurdle possible, Grey Shot made short work of 13 rivals on his jumping debut at Taunton, beating Village King by 23 lengths. This is a much more serious test but Grey Shot's class can tell.

Some useful prospects line up for the Sun Punters Club Novice Chase but Pipe may have another decent French recruit up his sleeve in the shape of Cyfor Malta.

The five-year-old has won his last two starts over fences in France and has clearly been bought with high expectations.
