World snooker champion Ken Doherty and the new Dublin football supremo Tommy Carr will join a host of other leading sports personalities and politicians taking part in the annual GOAL Mile in Dublin on Christmas morning.
While Belfield will stage the event for the 14th consecutive year (with the first run scheduled for 10 o'clock, continuing until 1.00 p.m.), the Morton Stadium, Santry, will cater for north-city supporters of this extraordinarily popular fundraiser. Taoiseach Bertie Ahern will lead the chase at Santry, with runs taking place over a one-hour period from 10.00 to 11.00 a.m.).
Doherty and Carr will also be joined in the series of one-mile jogs, open to all comers of all ages, by Eamon Coghlan, Stephen Collins, John Treacy, Stephen Roche and Michael Carruth.
