SCOTLAND rugby union coach, Richie Dixon is looking for an improved performance when his side meet the South Island Divisional XV at Blenheim tomorrow. He is demanding a more energetic display than the Scots turned in during their 31-21 victory against Southland on Saturday when the tourists looked "flat".

"That was almost certainly due to the fact we played some of the senior players more of the time to familiarise them with the new laws. You can only gain this knowledge by actually playing in matches," said Dixon.

For once, the tourists have no last minute worries about their squad for tomorrow. Reserve hooker Kevin McKenzie missed training, but only to rest his shoulder. The other player absent was centre Ian Jardine who has a heavy cold and, in any case, is not involved in the game tomorrow.

A number of players have not played for a while. We will be looking for a strong performance from them," said Dixon.
