DESERT KING could be the one to give record breaking Ballydoyle trainer Aidan O'Brien a momentous first British Flat winner in today's Group One Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket.

A slow early pace did not stop Desert King landing the Group One Aga Khan's Studs National Stakes at the Curragh last time.

But he only got up close home, having weaved his way through virtually the whole field in the final two furlongs and left the strong impress ion there is much better to come when the emphasis is more on stamina.

Michael Tabor's colt will have everything in his favour here and can go one place better than his owner's Danehill Dancer who finished second to Alhaarth here last year.
