A TURF CLUB appeal hearing into the controversial decision by the Curragh stewards not to improve the placing of Curtain Call in last month's Irish Derby will be held on Thursday, July 24th.
There has been widespread criticism over the stewards decision on the day not to promote Curtain Call ahead of Alessandro Volta into fourth despite the latter causing substantial interference to the Luca Cumani-trained colt.
Curtain Call passed the post in fifth and although he was the worst affected by Alessandro Volta's wayward passage, he wasn't promoted ahead of his Aidan O'Brien-trained rival because the stewards weren't satisfied the placings had been affected by the incident.
The saga of Tuscan Evening's demotion from second to fourth in May's Irish 1,000 Guineas could now end on Monday, July 28th after the rescheduling of an appeal hearing. An original appeal was due to be held four days earlier but that has had to be cancelled as the leading British jockey Ryan Moore, who rode Carribean Sunset in the race, couldn't attend.
