Limavady's prolific scoring batsman Declan Curry wrote his name into the record books when he powered his side to an emphatic 309-run victory over CYM in their Royal Liver Irish Assurance Cup second round tie at sunny Terenure on Saturday.
In a mighty innings of awesome power, he hit an undefeated 260 off only 161 balls as he smote the hapless CYM attack to all parts of the ground. His majestic knock included no fewer than 17 sixes and 14 fours, and one of his 50s came in just 11 minutes.
Facing a mammoth score of 373 for 5 declared after 48.5 overs, the shell-shocked CYM side were dismissed for only 64 with Gordon Cooke taking 3 for 12 and the McDaid brothers, Victor and Martin, sharing in five dismissals.
Elsewhere Leinster suffered a shock defeat against Ballymena at Rathmines and Railway Union also suffered defeat after a disappointing performance against Lurgan.
But Merrion, Pembroke and Clontarf all had successful visits to the North and made it to the last 16, while in the all Leinster clash at Claremont Road YMCA came out on top in a thrilling finish against The Hills.
