Fullback Tom Cregan took up where he left off against Shannon by producing another match-winning performance as Young Munster claimed a third successive victory. Cregan kicked five penalties and a drop goal to contribute all his side's total.

DLSP, who dominated for large sections of the match, could not translate their ascendancy into points, largely through the inaccuracy of out-half Dave O'Riordan. Cregan kicked three penalties in the opening 20 minutes to give the home side a 9-0 advantage at the break.

A fourth penalty was followed by a superb drop goal. DLSP did enjoy the satisfaction of scoring the only try of the game when replacement hooker Paul McDonnell crossed.
