CORK have become the latest county to be ordered to forfeit home advantage in the league as punishment for indiscipline, writes Seán Moran.
Having rejected a proposed €5,000 fine over indiscipline during the recent match against Armagh from the Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC), Cork opted for a hearing. But Saturday’s meeting of the Central Hearings Committee (CHC) decided instead to order the county to play their next home fixture, against Laois in two weeks, away from home.
They follow in the footsteps of Monaghan, who were similarly punished after deciding to look for a hearing after the CCCC had proposed a €5,000 fine in response to incidents during their league encounter with Kildare.
Unlike Cork, Armagh decided not to proceed with a hearing after seeing Monaghan’s fate and the CHC confirmed the CCCC’s fine of €5,000.
