LEAGUE OF IRELAND: Galway Utd 0 Cork City 2- AS A player and now a manager Paul Doolin has carved a reputation as being a model of League of Ireland efficiency, and this triumph was further evidence.

Cork’s previous matches had only yielded one point, but there still was a resilience and composure to how they dealt with Galway’s early burst of passion before landing the blows that mattered.

Republic of Ireland under-21 international Jay O’Shea was a potent threat for the locals initially, but Cork were working diligently and made a trip into Galway territory count in the 36th minute.

Colin Healy’s corner into a busy area wasn’t dealt with, and Guntars Silagailis thumped the visitors ahead with a close-range finish.

After the restart Galway tried to pass and probe, but Cork extended their advantage in the 67th minute when Faz Kudozovic guided an immaculate, 20-yard shot home.
