IMOKILLY and Avondhu will have to do battle again on October 6th after 60 minutes of furious hurling failed to separate them in yesterday's disappointing TSB sponsored Cork County Senior Hurling Championship final at Pairc Ui Chaoimh.

In what was the first final featuring two divisional sides in the 109 year history of the Cork championship, an Avondhu point nine minutes from time completed their come back and ensured them a second bite of the cherry.

Imokilly opened the brighter, shooting into a strong lead thanks in particular to Jimmy Smiddy and Philip Cahill. However an opportunist goal from Ronan Sheehan midway through the half brought Avondhu back to within three points.

Avondhu could have levelled the game with only minutes to go in the opening half when Aidan Kenny pulled wide after the ball came back off the upright. Almost immediately Imokilly responded and Avondhu were left to anxiously witness Sean Clifford pull off a point blank save from Jimmy Smiddy before the halftime whistle.
