SO YOU Think could yet become a world champion after confirmation that the ex-Australian superstar will be entered for the Dubai World Cup at the end of March, writes Brian O'Connor.
The thaw in the often frosty relationship between Coolmore Stud and Sheikh Mohammed appeared to take another step yesterday when Aidan O’Brien’s wife Annemarie tweeted: “He (So You Think) will be entered for the race but obviously no decision will be made until nearer the time.”
Last year O’Brien sent a number of horses to Dubai for the World Cup meeting with Cape Blanco finishing fourth in the World Cup and Master Of Hounds just edged out in the UAE Derby.
So You Think was rated Ireland’s top racehorse of 2011 in last week’s World Thoroughbred Rankings but despite a trio of Group 1 wins in Europe many observers believe he failed to live up to the lofty reputation he brought from Australia.
He finished his 2011 campaign with defeats in the Arc, the Champion Stakes and the Breeders Cup Classic at Churchill Downs. However he could soon be on his international travels again to the Middle East for the world’s most lucrative race.
In 2005 the O’Brien trained Powerscourt finished fifth in the World Cup.
