Holders Connemara retained the Connacht Junior Cup when they defeated Westport 29-6 in the final at Galway Sportsground yesterday. The victors, who took their third title in this competition, had led 16-6 at the interval due to a try by No 8 Noel Walsh, two penalties from Henry O'Toole, and a penalty and conversion by Mark Foyle. In reply Pat Staunton had two penalties for Westport.
Connemara had two more penalties in the second half from O'Toole, who also converted a Bernard Keaney try.
