Donal Nee is certain to be toasting Connemara golf club this week. The 17 handicapper won two of the famous Connemara hampers, t he only player in the eight weeks of competition to do so. Played on each of the Sundays from November 1st to December 20th, and with the prize awarded to the first and second finishers, Nee was successful on November 15th with 7 up against par and again when finishing second to George Peters on December 6th when he returned 6 up. The two competitions played off the Blue championship course were won by David Griffin and his nephew Derek Joyce. Connemara will have even more room to accommodate players in next year's hamper season when they open their third nine-hole course next June. Designed by the late Eddie Hackett and Tom Craddock, the new nine promises to be as good a test as the present 18.
